We want everyone who visits the Design for Government website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, going above and beyond the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations 2018.
What are we doing?
To help us make the Design for Government website a positive place for everyone, we’ve been using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, and user friendly for everyone.
The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the Design for Government website.
How are we doing?
We’re working hard to achieve our goal of Level AA accessibility, but we realise there are some areas that still need improving. The following information explains what we’re doing to make that happen.
Success criteria 1.2.2:
We have been providing captions for all prerecorded video content since 2019. Unfortunately, the videos in earlier years were not equipped with captions.
Success criteria 1.2.3:
All of our video content has spoken words. And all videos since 2019 have captions. However, we do not have audio descriptions or media alternative for video currently.
Success criteria 1.2.5:
All of our video content has spoken words. And all videos since 2019 have captions. However, we do not have audio descriptions for video content currently.
Success criteria 3.3.3:
The issue does not apply to the website.
Success criteria 3.3.4:
The issue does not apply to the website.
